Description
Item for auction is an 11.72g fragment of the Golden Pallasite that was found in Algeria in 2017. The meteorite is so named for patina on the stones, which have weathered with a sand ablated light golden color. Dr Phil Schmitt-Koplin recently classified these pallasites asNWA 12186, so that it is official with the Meteoritical Society.
Many stones retained much of their olivine inclusions, although some crystals may have plucked out of matrix giving the FeNi phases of the matrix stand out. The metal phases appear to be stable and should provide trouble free curation for many years. Prices vary depending on quality of the stone, and these are fairly high in both retention of olivine and sculptural shape. Here is an opportunity to acquire one of the most sought-after meteorites coming out of north west Africa. The meteorite comes with a Big Kahuna Meteorites Certificate of Authenticity / Specimen Card. Scale cube in photo is 1cm on each side, and not included in sale. Big Kahuna combines shipping, and addresses must be in the English language, to facilitate customs input at US Postal Service. Non-English addresses cannot be shipped, and may incur additional fees for handling. We no longer ship to China or Italy.
