    July 2018
    .  The
    NWA 12269 Mars
    Meteorite was
    classified in December 2018
    as a
    Martian Shergottite
    .
    Geologically, the meteorite is a
    young meteorite dating to about 180 million years.
    The NWA 12269 Mars Shergottite's composition has an
    igneous texture
    with a
    small proportion of glass
    or cryptocrystalline material.  This
    MARS slice weighs 1.863 grams
    and
    measures approximately 19mm x 16mm x 2mm
